Looking for a Bernedoodle puppy? Shady Oaks puppies should be your first-class destination. We have been raising puppies for many years and have provided the perfect home to multiple puppies, Bernedoodles being one of them.
Bernedoodle is a mixture of two adorable and intelligent breeds: Bernese Mountain Dogs that usually have black and white fur with a gentle and trustworthy look on their faces. Poodles that are delicate and adorable with a cute and beautiful look on their faces.
Bernedoodles: The Smartest Mixture

As the name suggests, Bernedoodles are a combined breed of mountain Bernese dogs and poodles. Along with the appearances, Bernedoodle does have a mixed personality too. With the alertness and outgoing qualities of a Bernese Mountain dog and the intelligence and goofiness of a Poodle.
Bernedoodles inherit their looks from both sides of the family. The Bernese Mountain Dog brings the classic black, white, and rust tricolor pattern; the Poodle brings a wider palette — creams, browns, apricots, and blacks. Put them together and you get a range of combinations, from clean tricolors to more unpredictable merges of all three.
The coat varies too. Some Bernedoodles take the Poodle’s tight curl, some lean toward the Bernese’s straighter, flatter fur, and many land somewhere in the middle with a loose wave. The curlier the coat, the less it tends to shed.
What they’re actually like to live with:
- They have a lot of energy — and a lot of personality. Bernedoodles are playful, a little goofy, and happiest when they have something to do. They’re not a dog that does well sitting still for long stretches.
- They’re a reasonable choice for allergy-prone households. No dog is fully hypoallergenic, but Bernedoodles — especially curlier-coated ones — shed minimally, which tends to reduce the triggers for people sensitive to dog dander.
- They’re good with kids. Not just tolerant — genuinely good. They match the energy, they enjoy the roughhousing, and they tend to be patient in the way that makes them trustworthy around younger children.
- They attach deeply. Bernedoodles are loyal to their people and they want to be near them. That’s a wonderful quality, but it’s worth knowing going in — they don’t do well being left alone for long periods.
- They’re easy to train. The Poodle’s intelligence comes through clearly here. They pick things up quickly, they respond well to consistency, and they generally want to please — which makes the early training weeks considerably less exhausting than with some other breeds.
- They adapt well. New environments, changing routines, different living situations — Bernedoodles tend to adjust without much drama, which matters more than people realize until they actually need it.
