MEET YOUR NEW FAMILY MEMBER

Healthy, Happy Goldendoodle Puppies with Exceptional Temperaments. A “Teddy Bear” Goldendoodle is a hybrid breed between a Poodle and a Golden Retriever. Goldendoodles are friendly, intelligent, affectionate pups that make excellent family dogs and generally get along with everyone. Shady Oaks has been breeding Goldendoodles for over a decade. We produce healthy, easy-to-train furry companions with less shedding than the average dog. We don’t simply sell pets. We place lifelong family members. Shady Oaks Goldendoodles are bred on our estate in Vidor, Texas. Our puppies are born and raised in a state-of-the-art, 5,000-square-foot indoor facility before they become a permanent member of your family.

Teddy Bear Goldendoodles are exceptionally friendly, clever, and affectionate by nature. This breed makes for an excellent family companion. Doodles are playful, undeniably loyal to their humans, and can be highly obedient with proper training.

Our breeding philosophy revolves around creating wonderful family members. Our Goldendoodles are carefully selected for their temperament, health, and intelligence.

Allergy-Friendly Goldendoodles

Are you a dog lover who also happens to be an allergy sufferer?

Goldendoodles’ unique coats can trap dander, reducing the spread around your home. This breed also has a “no shed gene,” meaning they produce less dander and saliva, which can benefit allergy sufferers. Our Goldendoodles are hypoallergenic. If you or someone in your household has allergies, we recommend spending time with a Goldendoodle before bringing one into your home.

Perfect Family Pets

The delightful combination of the gentle Golden Retriever and the intelligent Poodle makes the perfect addition to any household. We know you’ll love our Teddy Bear Goldendoodles as much as we do. Doodles thrive on forming strong bonds with their families, and their playful nature adds to your home’s fun, lively atmosphere.

Health Guarantee

All Shady Oaks puppies go home with a 2-year genetic health guarantee. Our puppies are also up to date on vaccinations and dewormings. We perform genetic testing on our parents and research our lines five generations back to ensure we produce the healthiest puppies.

Regular check-ups, a balanced diet, and a focus on mental stimulation and socialization contribute to the vitality of our animals.

Healthy Breeding Practices

Goldendoodles are a hybrid vigor breed and generally healthier than their purebred parents.

Hybrid vigor, also known as crossbreeding benefits, is a phenomenon in which the offspring of two different breeds display superior traits compared to their parents. The only genetic diseases and common health conditions they can be prone to are those shared by the Golden Retriever and the Poodle. Goldendoodles are generally healthy animals with a life expectancy of 13-15 years. At Shady Oaks, we thoroughly screen our dogs for genetic issues.

GOLDENDOODLE GENERATIONS
As a breeder, we aim to produce healthy, well-tempered Goldendoodles.

Goldendoodles are a crossbreed between the lovable Golden Retriever and the elegant Poodle. Doodles are known for their non-shedding, allergy-friendly coats, playful nature, and high intelligence.

We focused our breeding on health, consistency, look & type. Are you curious about your pup’s lineage? We research our lines five generations back and do genetic testing on our parents to breed the best Goldendoodles in Southeast Texas. We primarily offer F1B Goldendoodles.

What Are F1B Goldendoodles?

The F1B Goldendoodle is a hybrid dog breed that is 75% Poodle and 25% Golden Retriever. The “B” means bred back to a purebred parent. They are created by breeding an F1 Goldendoodle with a purebred Poodle.

Puppies are still first-generation, and the traits of either the Retriever or Poodle can be intensified. F1B Doodles tend to have a curly and hypoallergenic coat (more similar to a poodle). We highly recommend F1B Goldendoodles for families with moderate to severe allergies. This generation is the most hypo-allergenic Goldendoodle generation we breed.

At Shady Oaks, we mainly focus on F1B generation Doodles with very few F1s. If you have any questions about Doodle generations, we’re always happy to educate our fellow dog lovers.

GOLDENDOODLE TEMPERAMENTS
A dog’s temperament is a lot like a human’s personality.

Like humans, every dog is unique. Genetics, training, and socialization collectively influence a dog’s behavior. However, the animal’s environment (home life and daily routine) can impact behavior even more than heredity traits.

Goldendoodles are inherently curious, friendly, and calm dogs. Their loyal, easy-going nature makes them excellent family pets and a great choice for first-time dog owners. Doodles are usually relaxed around other humans and dogs, like their parent breeds. Goldendoodles have a natural instinct to fetch, enjoy outdoor activities, and please their owners. This brilliant breed responds well to training.

Goldendoodle Temperament & Personality

Goldendoodles are affectionate dogs that love being around children, other animals, and their owners. Sometimes, a Poodle’s personality may dominate, while at other times, a Golden Retriever’s personality may be more prominent. This is a very friendly breed regardless of which parent’s personality shines. Goldendoodles typically love everyone they meet (furry and human).

At Shady Oaks, we raise our puppies with love, care, and attention. Our pups are exposed to people in a nurturing environment to develop socialization skills. We aim to produce well-socialized puppies that make great companions for their new families. Doodles are also excellent therapy, service, companion, and facility dogs.

Breeding Dog-Friendly Doodles

Dogs communicate with each other in ways that we don’t always understand. Some dogs have trouble getting along with others. Like us humans, dogs have unique personalities and preferences. Dogs can feel threatened or intimidated by one another or have incompatible personalities.

We take extra care to breed friendly, gentle, and well-mannered dogs. Studies show that puppies who live with their littermates and mothers for at least 6 to 8 weeks after birth are likelier to have good canine social skills. We ensure lots of playtime with other dogs during these first few weeks of puppyhood to establish a strong foundation for socialization and positive interactions with other pups as they grow up.

We regularly assess the socialization progress of our puppies. When we see a puppy showing aggression towards other dogs, we immediately address such negative behaviors while they are still with their littermates.

GOLDENDOODLE DEVELOPMENT PERIODS

What are Doodles Like in Puppyhood?

Puppies pass through stages as they grow into adult dogs. Our Goldendoodles are raised by their mothers for the first few weeks of life. The mother instantly begins the training process as she nourishes her puppy before passing the responsibility to you.

New puppy owners are sometimes surprised by certain begabors. How do you know what’s normal? What can you expect when you bring home a new Goldendoodle puppy? Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect during the puppyhood stage of a Doodle.

Puppies at (3-8 Weeks)

Like humans, puppy toddlers are beyond adorable, but they need structure from their parents. We don’t remove our puppies from their mothers too early because this is a critical time for the mother to teach them essential life lessons. Puppies removed from their litter too early tend to be nervous, bark, and bite.

Puppies at (7-12 Weeks)

At this stage, we focus heavily on socialization. Puppies are mobile play with their littermates, but they are becoming more independent from their mother. This stage is crucial for positive human interaction and early socialization. Our dogs are constantly around humans as we allow them to explore their surroundings with growing confidence. We also slowly introduce different sounds and experiences to reduce the fear of new things.

By eight weeks, puppies are typically ready to leave their mother and littermates to join their new families.

Puppies at (12-16 Weeks)

Your puppy will be a permanent member of your household at this stage. The first few weeks at home are critical to bond with your new puppy. Basic training and socialization should continue at home. Puppy teeth start to fall out, and adult teeth come in. To save your furniture (and sanity), provide chew toys to help soothe teething discomfort and prevent inappropriate chewing.

Puppies at (4-6 Months)

Welcome to the teenage years! Puppies will go through a stage where they may test boundaries. More confident pups will decide they’re ready to roam free and take off. Continue basic obedience training, focusing on sit, stay, and recall commands. Socialization with other dogs and people is vital during this time.

Puppies at (6 Months-1 Year)

Most Doodle puppies reach their full height by six months but will continue to fill out and mature physically until around one year. Continue training your puppy with a focus on more advanced commands. Many veterinarians recommend spaying or neutering dogs around this stage. Your puppy will also likely transition from puppy chow to adult dog food around this time. Consult with your vet about transitioning your Doodle to adult dog food.

Puppies at (1-3 Years)

Your baby is all grown up! Doodles will develop more muscle tone and fill out a little more. Your dog is a family member and will likely feel obliged to protect its home. If you notice possessive behaviors around this stage, it’s best to address them. Otherwise, you may be left with a “king dog” on your hands, which can lead to aggression.

If you notice possessive behaviors, continue with obedience training.

SIZES, COLORS, & COATS Let us help you find the perfect pup.

Goldendoodles come in a variety of sizes, coat colors, and textures. We sell mini, small, and medium Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle puppies. Size is determined by the Poodle used in breeding. Your puppy’s size will be similar to the parents’ size. Feel free to ask us about our parent dogs, as they’re permanent members of the Shady Oaks family. Here’s a breakdown of the different size options we offer. Mini Goldendoodles: Mini Goldendoodles look like pint-sized teddy bears, even when fully grown. Minis are ideal for families looking for a smaller pet. They generally inherit the classic Goldendoodle friendly, sociable, and affectionate nature. Size:
  • Weight: Typically stay under 30 pounds as adults
  • Height: Between 10 to 14 from the shoulder to the paw

Small Goldendoodles:

Shady Oaks has successfully bred down to this sought-after size. Small Goldendoodles tend to have a long waitlist, with quite a few families awaiting the arrival of a new litter. Small Doodles are similar to miniature size Doodles.

Size:

  • Weight: Typically ranging from 18 to 35 pounds.
  • Height: Stands between 10 to 15 inches at the shoulder.

Medium Goldendoodles:

Medium Goldendoodles are popular because they are small enough to live in apartments but large enough to serve as working dogs or interactive family pets. Both genders stay in a comparable weight range when fully grown.

Size:

  • Weight: Typically ranging from 30 to 45
  • Height: Stands between 17 to 20 inches at the shoulder.

GOLDENDOODLE COLORS

Our Goldendoodles come in a rainbow of colors.

There are lots of Goldendoodle coat colors to choose from! Goldendoodles get their unique coat colors from their parent breeds. Golden Retriever ancestry brings shades of cream, apricot, and red. Poodles lend the black, chocolate, silver, and gray coloring.

The most common Goldendoodle colors are White, Cream, and Apricot.

GOLDENDOODLE COAT TYPES

Doodles within the same litter can have different coat types.

Goldendoodle coats can range from curly to straight. Some dogs have a shaggy look, while others have tight, curly fur reminiscent of their Poodle ancestry. Goldendoodles start to lose puppy fur and develop an adult coat between 4 and 8 months.

Loose-Wavy Coat:

This is the most common. The loose wave comes from a curl gene from one parent and a non-curl gene from the other. This type of coat is easy to maintain. We recommend brushing around 4x per week behind the ears, under the neck, and at the base of the tail. Treat your pup to a good full-body brush at least once a week. Expect low to moderate shedding.

Curly Coat:

Super-cute curly coats can be loose or tight kinky curls, similar to Poodles. Curly coats are the most popular for pet owners with allergies because they are the most non-shedding. Curly coats require a full-body brush once a day to maintain softness and prevent tangles and mats.

COATS CHANGE AS YOUR PUPPY GROWS

As your Goldendoodle puppy grows, their coat changes color, texture, and curl pattern.

Most Goldendoodle coats become plush and full as they age. We’ll give you background information on your adopted pup’s lineage and the parents’ genetics, which can influence the puppy’s coat.

Here’s how we know what kind of coat a puppy will have as an adult:

  • Puppies with “crimping” on the forehead or back at birth have loose-wavy coats.
  • Puppies with “crimping” on the forehead, ears, or back at birth have curly coats.

Goldendoodles are known for their friendly and patient personalities, which make them the perfect pet to add to the family. They’re great with kids, pets and can even act as an emotional support animal to help adults deal with stress! Goldendoodles are the perfect pet for everyone.

Goldendoodles are truly like no other. They’re intelligent, loyal and eager to please their human partners in every way possible! And did we mention how adorable they can be!

Goldendoodle Facts:

Training your Goldendoodle is easier with, you guessed it, “FOOD” and toys! To keep your Goldendoodles from snacking on your slippers, keep chew toys and things that will not hurt them. A bored dog is a curious dog if you get my drift!

No, goldendoodles do not shed. They are considered to be a hypoallergenic breed because they are a mix of a poodle and golden retriever. Poodles do not shed and golden retrievers only shed minimally.
